When I was a child…

When I was a child
Life was a beautiful hymn
And Daddy’s shoulder sung the most soulful rhyme.
When I was a child,
Neighbourhood was not a stranger’s mansion but
Was our very own play station.
Birthday parties were not themes & dates but,
Were filled with Mumma’s homemade cakes.
When I was a child,
Apple was nothing more than fruit and,
Gadgets were the thing of dudes.
International air travel was not a norm but,
Going to nani’s home in summer vacation was all we want.
When I was a child,
Play station and smart phones didn’t existed but,
Our hearts were filled with Chacha Chaudhary and Nancy Drew mysteries.
When I was a child,
Mumma’s vada pao was the favourite sub,
And friendship was beyond social media hub.
When I was a child,
Cameras were not so mobile and,
Sepia tinted albums were used to spark smile.
Today when I sit back and realize my heart tugs at the strings of those memories that are left far behind.
